WELDON "HAL" FRANCK March 21, 1928 ~ October 2, 2012 Hal Franck, 84, passed away in Vancouver, WA on Oct. 2, 2012, following a long illness. He was born March 21, 1928 in Tobias, NE. After graduating from Franklin High School in Portland, OR, Hal joined the U.S. Army where he served in the World War II Occupation in Germany and two combat tours in Korea. Hal retired from the military in 1966, and after a 16-year career as a sales rep for a children's clothing manufacturer, he moved to Mountain Home, ID where he spent many years volunteering at the Mountain Home Air Force Base Hospital and the Boise Veterans Home. In 2011, Hal moved to Vancouver. Hal enjoyed playing pinochle and poker, raising tomatoes, shooting pool and cooking barbecued ribs to be enjoyed by family and friends. Hal is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Weldon; daughter, Veronica (Guy) Tacheron; step-son, Dale DeFord; step-daughter, Dani (Dan) Wisner; brother, Clair Franck; sister, Norma (Ray) Mosbrucker; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Helen Franck; two sons, Rodney and Lonnie Franck; two brothers, Robert and Ronald Franck; and a sister, Marlys Dienstel. A graveside service will be held Thurs., Oct. 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Vancouver Barracks Post Cemetery.
