ROBERT "BOB" LOUIS NEAL May 5, 1924 ~ August 1, 2014 Robert "Bob" Louis Neal, 90, of Vancouver, WA, passed peacefully into eternal rest to join the Lord on Friday evening, Aug. 1, 2014. He was born in Pratt, KS. Robert served honorably in the United States Navy in WWII. After WWII, Robert joined the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and attended RCA's special post WWII Electrical Engineering School during off shifts at the NYPD. After graduation, Robert moved to Portland, OR where he met his future wife, Katherine Frances Beazley (RN). Robert became the first African American Certified Electrician and Electrical Contracting business owner in Oregon at that time. He led several important projects, including construction at Techtronics facilities in Beaverton, the Trojan Nuclear Plant, and several major office buildings in Portland and Seattle. Robert enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, baseball, and football. His community service outreach was primarily through the Portland Council of the Knights of Columbus. Robert devoted significant time as the President of the Wilshire Little League between 1969-1975. Robert is survived by children: Rita Frost, Melissa (Lee) Hawes, Mark, Kevin and Lecia Neal, Paula (Scott) Staggs and Brian (Rose) Neal; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Katherine Frances Neal; his parents, Guy and Mable Neal; and his brothers, Herman and Don Wayne Neal. Services will be private.
