Bess L. Prill December 17, 1921 to February 7, 2012 Bess Prill was born to Charles and Alvie (Roy) Bremmer in the small farm community of Ridgefield, Washington and was a lifelong resident of Clark County. She went to school at Pioneer, Washington, Shumway, Vancouver High and later completed her high school GED at Clark College. She met and married her husband of 55 years Floyd in 1938. Together they had two children, Faith and Dale, after Floyd returned from combat in World War II. Bess lived a long and very rich life giving much of herself to family and friends for whom she cared deeply. She spent most of her 90 years living in Vancouver where she was a homemaker and early on worked in retail sales at several downtown department stores and later Fred Meyer. She had many interests including painting, ceramic birds, girls club, crossword puzzles, playing cards, bingo, flower gardening and traveling in the Northwest especially to the beach with friends and family. There she often enjoyed a rousing game of scrabble or pinochle with her partner Maxine and entertained all with unexpected humorous quips. Her family was always at the center of her life and in the early years spent her extra time helping out with various school and scouting activities. After her husband passed away in 1993, she found a new companion in her beloved cat Goldie. She spent her last years at Arbor Ridge Assisted Living where she made many new friends during the 8 years she was there and took special interest in following the Mariner baseball games. Continuing health issues led her to spend her final months at Guardian Angel Care Center where Debora and Doru became her loving caregivers and Virgil her special companion. Although she was able to maintain a zest for life and displayed great courage, in the end she was unable to overcome her final battle with pneumonia. We want to thank all the doctors, nurses and other specialists who took such good care of her and her family during her stay at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Also we want to acknowledge Dr Harwood, Dr. Dodge, Dr. Kim and Dr. Dreyer who worked so hard over the years to maintain her health and well being. Our very special mom will be greatly missed by her family and friends until one day we are all once again reunited. Bess was preceded in death by mother Alvie Hunt, father Charles Bremmer, husband Floyd, half brothers Harry, Wesley & Benjamin Hunt and Chuck Bremmer. She is survived by daughter Faith (Harry) Law-Hing of Salem, OR, son Dale (Sue) Prill of Vancouver, granddaughter Sheryl (Dan) Duyungan of Renton, WA, cousin Patti Johnson of Battle Ground, Dee Bremmer of Novato, CA, extended family members Virgil (Maxine) Carmichael, Tim (Connie) Halseth and her very special friend Goldie the cat. A private graveside service will be held for the family and close friends at 12:30 PM on Friday February 10, 2012 at Park Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Evergreen Staples Funeral Chapel.
